Summer Trip Calgary 08

"where I got my head in a hat"

Banff and the Canadian Rockies

The Canadian Rockies loom large on the horizon travelling west from Calgary.  Foothills lead the way to massive towers of granite.  Geological wonders opened up before us as we followed the mountain valleys en route to Banff.  Citadels stood guard as we traced the jade-water Bow River lined by dignified Douglas Firs.  A picnic at the National Park sustained us for our walking tour of Banff where we were treated to a "Cows" ice cream... a familiar Maritime icon found on the Cavendish boardwalk and downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island!
